Delhi Noida Gurgaon Car Detailing and Polishing – What determines Resale Value of a Car

This article is for all those People who want to upgrade from their current cars and are trying to get top dollar for the car that they already own. J

A used car has certain value, this value is tough to price. The only way to traditionally price the car is based on the following parameters –

a)      Age of the Car
b)      Brand of the car maker
c)       Kilometers Run
d)      Petrol/Diesel/CNG
e)      First Owner/Second Owner/Third Owner
f)       Where the Car is registered
g)      Condition of the engine
h)      Look of the Car

I can probably write 5 more factors but they will not suffice, this is clearly an art and not an exact science. It is so dark and mysterious that eventually this has turned into a very profitable business for people who buy and sell old cars. This is beyond the comprehension of most car owners who are looking to sell their vehicles.

But what the car owner can do is the following –
a)      Make sure all the papers are in order
b)      Make sure the engine is smooth and the car is in prime running state
c)       Make sure the look of the Car is great

It is with the third point c), that I am concerned. This is one of the most neglected areas in any used car sale and purchase transaction. This is where people who buy and sell used cars make their money at the expense of car owners and Car Buyers.

A Great looking used car is not very common and if one such specimen is on the market, it gets sold before we can say – I got cheated by the used car salesman, he bought the car too cheap.

A simple detailing package would be able to help the person selling his car get top dollar for it. In other words, invest 5000 and get 50000 to 100000 more plus the car gets sold very fast. Seems like a great deal.

We may think whatever we want but when it comes to buying a used car most people’s logic is trumped by how the car looks, it can be a year older than what we are comfortable with but if the car looks great, we really would not mind.

Take advantage of this weakness in human nature, we are by our very disposition drawn to shiny and good looking things and a car detailing package carried out by an expert car detailer can ensure that the shiny and good looking thing happens to be our beloved car which we are in the process of selling.

New Delhi Car Detailing – Tips and DIY Guide

This article is for all those budding car lovers who want to take their love to the next level. J

A Car is nothing but a amalgamation of a person’s needs and wants. Everybody needs a car and everybody also wants one. The subtle difference is that a need dictates a car’s functional utility per se and a want dictates a specific brand car.

If we are asked what we all want we would all answer Ferrari or Aston Martins but the not so light topic of Purchasing Power bogs us down.

Now how do we get what we own looking the best that it possibly can – Simple, by taking care of it.

What steps do we have to follow for a car – 2 Basic Steps, can be done by anyone but aren’t, sadly.

a)      Prevention is the best cure - Keep your lovely Car away from the Harsh Natural Elements as far as possible, this simply means keeping the cover under a car cover. While some of you will think about the very light, and I mean very light swirl marks which might be left over when the car cover rubs against the car paint but in my view it is still fine because direct exposure to natural elements like dust, harsh sunlight and tree sap or bird poop. These lead to faded paint and quite permanent marks, in Punjabi we would call them nazar battus J
.
b)      Massage – Yes, even the car needs a massage once in a while which can be something as simple as a coat of wax every one or two months. Wax apart from imparting shine to the car exterior also forms a thin layer of protection which goes a long way in keeping the car paint in prime condition. A hard paste wax lasts the longest but is more difficult to apply while a liquid wax lasts a little lesser but is much easier to apply.

If a Car Lover was to follow just these two basic steps he would be doing 60% of the work required to keep a car looking good. We live in Delhi and NCR where a new car looks new for less than 4 months on an average but the above two steps can go a long way in beating this specific law of averages. For long term expert protection you would still need expert detailers like us.

Car Detailing Delhi, Noida & Gurgaon – By Machine or by Hand

Car Detailing Delhi, Noida & Gurgaon – By Machine or by Hand

This is one aspect of car detailing which is up for debate all the time. In one camp are traditional car lovers who say that machines are far more aggressive than necessary for Car detailing and should be avoided or minimally used. In the other camp are New Age types who think that when something can be done faster and better using machines, then it should only be done that way.

The best road to take is the middle ground.

There are some steps which do require the care and time that application by hand can do justice to, while there are some steps which are better carried out with the help of machines.

Now, precisely which machines are we talking about. They are of course the big and bad Car Polishing Machines. There is a whole army of them – Orbital, Rotary, Dual Action, Small Backing Plates, High RPM, Low RPM etc and plenty of brand names like Meguiars(a recent entrant), Makita, Festool, Bosch, Dewalt to name a few.

For beginners, Rotary Polishers are a big No. They are noisy, aggressive and if used improperly can just cut through the base coat layer. Beginners are well advised to stick with a Low RPM Dual Action Polisher.
For Experienced Professionals Rotary Polishers are the 1st choice followed closely by Orbital Polishers. They also happen to be the most effective is used properly.

Whether to use machines or to go in for hand application depends on three basic factors –
a)      Condition of the Paint of the Car
b)      Skill Level of the person carrying out the polishing process
c)       Products and Tools available

If a), b) and C) are all a resounding Yes in terms of Bad Paint Condition, High Skill Level and Great products and tools available then Rotary it is, maybe even Orbital can be looked at.

But if even one of a), b) or c) is not a resounding yes, then it is much safer to not use a heavy duty car polishing tool, remember these machines can go upto RPMs of 3000 to even 4000 in a few cases, speeds at which a very high degree of precision and skill is needed to use them.

You are far better using a very high quality Car Polish and Car Wax which have some degree of abrasive content, Believe you me, It is far easier to deal with a bad hand application job than a bad machine application job.
